HMT-West Wraps-up the 2010 Season

The Hydrometeorology Testbed (HMT) team conducted an on-line meeting to wrap-up the 2010 field season and discuss next steps for HMT. Participants included personnel from the Eureka and Sacramento National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Offices (WFOs), the California Nevada River Forecast Center (CNRFC), NWS Western Region (WR) headquarters, the Office of Climate Weather and Water Services, the Developmental Testbed Center (DTC), and the Earth System Research Laboratory's (ESRL's) Physical Science and Global Systems Divisions.

The meeting covered three main topics: 1) an overview of the season including a synopsis of the observed weather during the 2010 field season in California's American River Basin and the identification of cases; 2) topical discussions on new instrumentation deployed as part of HMT's legacy in CA, the WRF ensemble runs, model verification, and Advanced Linux Prototype System (ALPS) and new online verification tools; and 3) a discussion of next steps for HMT. Some highlights of the meeting include:

Participants plan to engage in informal monthly "work in progress" telecons and web-based meetings over the next few months to assist in preparation for the meeting. A set of meeting notes and presentation slides are available from the links on this page.
